“We need that touch from the one we love, almost as much as we need air to breathe. But I never understood the importance of touch. His touch. Until I couldn’t have it.”
From the quote we see how important touch is, a touch from someone special to us, someone we love, someone that gives us a reason to live. But unfortunately, for the main characters from this beautiful film, that touch is impossible to achieve. I think everyone will lump in their throat after watching this story and, of course, some might cry.
The movie follows Stella and Will, 2 patients with cystic fibrosis, a terrible genetic disorder that affects the lungs by mucus hypersecretion (that’s a short version). They are at the same hospital, where they get daily medication. Will is depressed because he realizes his life will be shorter, but Stella is a very optimistic person. She has a YouTube channel, where she tells her life. She tries to support all the patients with the same disease. After they met, Will becomes more hopeful due to her. That’s how it all started, but the problem is they are not allowed to approach less than 5 feet.
The story is a very good one, it made me understand how beautiful life is, and that we don’t have all the time in the world to do whatever we want. We just have to live, although sometimes it might seem hard. We just have to profit from every moment we live. That’s the message of this film.
On the acting part, Cole Sprouse did a very good job. His role is unforgettable, I think not only for the teenagers but the adults also. And Haley Lu Richardson is perfect. The moments with them are so emotional. I must say I had tears in my eyes in the end because any one of us could have been in this situation.
I hope you’ll watch this movie because you won’t regret it! Enjoy and stay safe!
