“Adults incapable of raising children should not have any children.”
All the words in the world can’t express what feelings this movie gave me, this shocking story, inspired by true stories from the poor neighbourhoods in Beirut, Lebanon. I wanted to watch this movie since 2018 but I couldn’t because of this very sad story. If you are in the same situation as I was, try to watch this masterpiece. I have to say you’ll be very sad after, but these stories should be known by every one of us.
The story follows Zain El Hajj, a 12-year-old boy, who serves a sentence (5 years) for killing someone. He decides to sue his parents for giving birth to him. After that, he watches his everyday life, which is filled with poverty. He is neglected by his parents and that’s why, one day, he runs away from “home”. That’s all I want to say about the plot because I don’t want to spoil your experience.
This movie doesn’t have actors, it has real persons, that’s how they performed. The protagonist did a remarkable job, he’s unforgettable. Zain Al Rafeea is a Syrian refugee without any acting experience. Yordanos Shiferaw was incredible too. I loved how her story intertwined with Zain’s story.
It’s difficult to talk about such a movie. I hope you’ll watch it, you have to at least once in your lifetime.
